Getting Started
What is DocuBuild?
DocuBuild is a construction document management platform that centralizes project documents, requirement tracking, and review and approval workflows — so head contractors, certifiers, consultants, and subcontractors all work from one source of truth.
Who is DocuBuild for?
It is built for construction project teams: head contractors and project managers coordinating documentation, certifiers and consultants reviewing submissions, and subcontractors contributing evidence and compliance documents.
How do I get started?
Sign in, create a project, invite your team, and set up the document requirements you need collected. Contributors can then upload directly against each requirement.
Do I need to install anything?
No. DocuBuild runs in your web browser — there is nothing to install. Just sign in at app.docubuild.io.
Projects & Documents
How do I create a project?
From your dashboard, choose "New project", enter the project details, and add the requirements or document folders you want to track.
What file types can I upload?
DocuBuild supports common construction document formats including PDF, images (JPG and PNG), and office documents. PDFs can be previewed and reviewed directly in the app.
Can I organize documents into folders?
Yes. Documents are organized by project and grouped into requirements and folders, so everything stays structured and easy to find.
How do I find a specific document?
Use the search and quick-navigation tools within a project to jump straight to a file, requirement, or folder.
Approvals & Reviews
How do approvals work?
Documents move through configurable review steps. Assigned approvers are notified by email and can approve, request changes, or comment from their review queue.
Who can approve a document?
Approvers are the people assigned to a requirement's current approval step. Only they can action that step, and the project team can configure who that is.
Can I leave comments on a document?
Yes. Reviewers can comment on documents and notify specific team members, keeping all feedback attached to the relevant file.
Will I be notified when something needs my review?
Yes. DocuBuild emails you when a document is assigned to you for review or when changes are requested.
Contributors & External Access
Do external contributors need an account?
No. Contributors upload through a secure contribute link sent by the project team — no login required.
How do I invite a contributor?
Share the contribute link for a requirement or folder. Each contributor gets a unique link, so uploads are tracked to the right person.
Is the contribute link secure?
Yes. Contribute links are unique per recipient and scoped to the specific requirement or folder you are collecting, so contributors only see what they need to.
Can contributors upload from their phone?
Yes. The contribute experience works on mobile, so subcontractors can submit documents from the field.
Account & Billing
How do I update my profile or change my password?
Open the avatar menu and go to Account Settings to update your name, email, and profile picture. To change your password, use the "Forgot password?" reset flow from the login page.
How do I manage email notifications?
You can manage or unsubscribe from reminder emails from your account settings, or via the unsubscribe link in any reminder email.
